다리 너머에서, 우리는 먼저 인사하고 싶었습니다

건축은 마음, 높이는 환대

나무보다 높게, 마음보다 먼저

굿모닝애프터눈의 1층을

무려 12.5미터라는 이례적인 높이로 설계한 데에는

분명한 이유가 있습니다.

고속도로를 나와 국도로 접어들어

다리를 하나 건너다 보면,

멀리 굿모닝애프터눈 건물이 시야에 들어옵니다.

그 길목에서 건물은,

이미 키 큰 나무들 사이에 잠겨 있습니다.

주변을 감싸고 선 나무들의 높이는

약 12미터 남짓.

만약 건물이 낮았다면,

그 나무들에 가려

우리가 준비한 환영의 마음은

보이지 않았을 것입니다.

우리는 생각했습니다.

다리를 건너기 전,

멀리서라도 굿모닝애프터눈이

먼저 눈에 들어오기를.

자연 속에서도

분명하게 인사할 수 있기를.

하나의 선택, 모든 것의 변화

하지만 그 12.5미터를 선택하는 순간,

모든 것이 달라졌습니다.

공사의 방식이 바뀌었고,

공간마다 구조가 새로 짜여야 했습니다.

들어가는 시간도,

드는 비용도

모든 것이 배가되었습니다.

기계도, 인력도, 자재도

모든 공정을 다시 계산해야 했습니다.

높이 하나 때문에 하나도

빠짐없이 어려웠습니다.

우리는 포기하지 않았습니다.

딱 두 가지 이유 때문이었습니다.

첫째,

처음 이곳을 찾는 이가

다리 너머에서 굿모닝애프터눈을 바라보는 그 순간,

그 마음이 먼저 환대 받기를 바랐기 때문입니다.

둘째,

2층에 올라선 그 순간,

합천호의 풍경이

미친 듯이 펼쳐지기를 바랐기 때문입니다.

모든 감탄은, 이 높이에서

실제로 이곳에 서 본 이들은

하나같이 비슷한 말을 남깁니다.

“이건 진짜 미쳤다.”

“이 뷰는 죽인다.”

“와… 여기 너무 평화롭고 고요하네요.”

그 모든 순간이,

12.5미터라는 이 높이에서 시작됩니다.

Before the Bridge, We Wanted to Greet You First

Architecture as 마음, height as welcome

Higher than the trees, earlier than words

There is a clear reason

why the first floor of Good Morning Afternoon

was designed with an unusual height of 12.5 meters.

After leaving the highway,

turning onto the local road,

and crossing a single bridge,

the building slowly comes into view.

At that point,

it is already surrounded

by tall trees.

The trees around the site

stand at nearly 12 meters.

If the building had been any lower,

it would have been hidden—

and the welcome we prepared

would not have been seen.

So we thought this:

Before crossing the bridge,

we wanted Good Morning Afternoon

to be seen first.

Even within nature,

we wanted to greet you clearly.

One decision, everything changed

The moment we chose 12.5 meters,

everything changed.

Construction methods shifted.

Structures had to be redesigned

for every space.

Time doubled.

Costs doubled.

Machinery, manpower, materials—

every process had to be recalculated.

Because of a single height,

nothing remained easy.

Still,

we did not give up.

For only two reasons

There were only two.

First,

So that the moment

someone sees Good Morning Afternoon

from beyond the bridge,

their 마음 is welcomed first.

Second,

So that the moment

one steps onto the second floor,

the view of Hapcheon Lake

opens without restraint.

All awe begins at this height

Those who have stood here

tend to say similar things.

“This is insane.”

“The view is unbelievable.”

“Wow… it’s so peaceful and quiet.”

All of those moments

begin here—
